History of the Faculty of Engineering

Our faculty was established with the decision of YÖK dated 03.07.1992 and numbered 3837, and started education and training by taking its first students to the Environment and Construction Departments in the 1998-1999 academic year. Then, students were admitted to Mechanical Engineering, Geological Engineering and Electrical-Electronics Engineering Departments in 2000-2001, 2002-2003 and 2008-2009 academic years, respectively. The Department of Food Engineering within the Faculty of Agriculture of our university joined our Faculty with the approval of YÖK dated 20.01.2009 and numbered 189. In addition, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering Departments were opened in 2011, increasing the number of departments to 10. Computer Engineering Department started its undergraduate education in 2016.

Akdeniz University, Faculty of Engineering continues its academic studies in 10 departments. In Computer, Environment, Electrical-Electronics, Food, Civil, Geology and Mechanical Engineering Departments, there are Master's and Doctorate Programs as well as undergraduate programs, and Master's programs are open in our Biomedical, Materials Science and Engineering Departments.
